HomeStar Bill of LadingHow Do I....How to turn on the option to see Hidden files on your system.

7.30. How to turn on the option to see Hidden files on your system.

Windows 7 or Vista hides important files and folders from view to keep users from deleting or otherwise modifying files they shouldn't, but a simple checkbox can change that behavior.

You can run Windows Explorer by Right Clicking on the Windows Start Button, and clicking on the Explore option.

To show hidden files, click on the Organize button, and then click Folder and search options.

Then click the View tab, and then you should select Show hidden files and folders.

Then click OK. Hidden Files & Folders should now be visible.

If performing this on a Windows XP machine, right click Start then Explore All Users. Then click Tools then Folder Options. Select the View tab as it looks similar to Windows Vista or 7 as shown above.
